This book should be required reading in the schools and a copy should be sent to all politicians in Washington, from the President down to the freshman legislator and also to all the judges from the national level to the states level.
Know why we are free and have the civil liberties that we do so we can protect them.

Reading this book has started me on a new journey - a journey to educate myself as to why this is the greatest country in the world. Every American needs to read this book to educate yourself and with that knowledge we Americans will know what needs to be done to keep our country free and keep our civil liberties in tack.

The 5000 Year Leap: A Miracle That Changed the World I have read other books by Cleon Skousen but this is the best book of his by far. Every person who truly is glad to be an American will find out why by reading this book. Our founding fathers had to be geniuses to have created this country in the fashion they did. This book inspires me to make sure I help keep what was created for our greatest and best welfare. It is must reading for a complete understanding of the founding documents and our Constitution.

Wow! I can't say enough about this book. I don't know if it's that i just didn't pay attention in high school or that they didn't teach it (I think the latter) but I NEVER knew even 10% of the info found in this book.
It really opened my eyes to how the Founding Fathers intended the government to be run, and boy - are we FAR from where that is. Granted, this is the ideal, but some of the principles found in this book are VERY relevant to today!
It should be required reading for anyone looking to understand what the government is and should be.
